A debate is underway to decide the future of a privately-owned “bird sanctuary” currently located at 441-447 W Arlington Place. Built in the early 70s by Eugene Chesrow, the sanctuary is home to hundreds of birds, both local and migratory species. However, some argue that the “vacant lot” attracts pigeons and rats. The proposal from Contemporary Concepts Inc would convert the lot along with the adjacent home to a row of million dollar condos.
